Job Description What will you be doing in this role? The Pathology Customer Service Representative is often the first interface with the department’s customers. The position acts as a client advocate to assist them in the resolution of problems, to communicate patient test results and laboratory information, and to accept and respond to complaints. Responsibilities include the generation and distribution of reports, calling of Critical and Toxic Values, handling of add-on requests, requisition review, assisting the billing department, and participation in division problem solving and process improvement. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responds to requests for test results, AP slides and blocks, test requirements and status of reports. Maintains reference materials to enable prompt response to client inquiries. May perform MLA duties as requested. Acts as a client advocate to assist them with their needs; functions as a public relations agent for the department. Communicates effectively and makes efficient use of division communication instruments, including Corrective Action QA Logs. Reviews requisitions for accuracy of orders. Reviews new and existing policies and procedures according to established protocols. Qualifications Requirements: High School Diploma or its equivalent. Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical setting, with laboratory background preferred.
