Description
As a Patient Transport Specialist, you will play an essential role in supporting safe, efficient patient care throughout West Valley UCLA Medical Center. You will transport patients, equipment, and critical items across the hospital while ensuring comfort, safety, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Support
- Safely transport patients via gurney, bed, wheelchair, or crib to various hospital areas
- Transport patients requiring oxygen (mask, cannula, aerosols) and follow proper protocols
- Move isolation patients using appropriate PPE and infectionâcontrol procedures
- Assist licensed nurses with traction equipment, IV pumps, and transferring IV poles between beds and wheelchairs
- Follow Safe Patient Handling procedures and use proper lift equipment
- Provide ageâappropriate support and maintain sensitivity to patient and family needs
Operational & Support Duties
- Pick up and deliver specimens, blood products, medical equipment, medications, records, and other items as assigned
- Collaborate with patient escorts, nurses, physicians, and other hospital staff
- Report unusual situations or issues to the supervisor or manager
- Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times
- Retrieve and return unused gurneys and wheelchairs to designated areas
- Train new hires and volunteers on transport basics and safe equipment use
- Transport deceased patients to the morgue using appropriate equipment; upon certification, operate the morgue van for interâfacility transfers
Pay Range: $22.18 – $29.24 hourly
Qualifications

obtain and convey information needed in the transport process of all
patients and other items.
