SALARY RANGE: $150k – $185k

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Payload Processing Systems Engineer (PPSE). The PPSE is an engineering professional responsible for end-to-end payload processing support for space launch missions. This role involves strategic planning, technical assessments, and day-of-launch operations in support of NRO/OSL missions. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in payload processing and strong communication skills to interface with Government leadership.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Minimum 7 years of payload processing experience.
• Extensive knowledge of NRO/OSL launch policies and procedures.
• In-depth understanding of:
  • Payload processing flows and launch site operations.
  • NRO Satellite Vehicle interface, transportation, and processing requirements.
  • Acquisition lifecycle and payload integration timelines.
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support cradle-to-grave payload processing activities, including planning, site preparation, and launch execution.
• Develop and present technical briefings and assessments to various stakeholders.
• Analyze complex issues quickly and provide timely resolution and recommendations.
• Mentor and guide junior PPSE team members (Level I & II).
• Contribute to strategic recommendations based on operational experience and best practices.
