Payroll Specialist – Valencia, CA

A large and established organization is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their growing team. This role will focus on processing high-volume payroll while ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws and reporting requirements across California and Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:

Review, approve, and process payroll for 1,300+ employees.

Manage payroll for prevailing wage projects, including Davis-Bacon, California DIR, and Nevada state reporting.

Maintain current prevailing wage rates and provide updates to the Estimating team for bid preparation.

Report hours and fringe benefit data for monthly trust fund reporting and process related payments.

Prepare certified payroll in LCP Tracker, Elations, DIR, and other compliance systems.

Complete and submit all required forms and notices for prevailing wage projects, including DAS 140 & DAS 142.

Ensure compliance with apprenticeship requirements, including reporting and payments to California Apprenticeship Council and Nevada programs.

Track and maintain Section 3 hiring documentation for applicable projects.

Review employee sign-in sheets for accurate labor classifications and hours.

Prepare weekly wage adjustments and journal entries within the accounting ERP system.

Conduct wage and hour compliance checks to ensure accuracy.

Import, enter, and reconcile labor costing data.

Process paid time off (PTO) requests for hourly and salaried employees and assist with PTO accrual audits.

Review and process direct deposit requests, deduction changes, garnishments, and wage increases.

Issue off-cycle manual checks and process separation pay for departing employees.

Serve as a resource to employees regarding payroll, timekeeping, system navigation, and PTO inquiries.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

3+ years of payroll processing experience (labor costing preferred).

Experience with union payroll strongly preferred.

Knowledge of prevailing wage compliance requirements.

Strong proficiency with Excel and Outlook.

Experience with payroll and electronic timekeeping systems.

High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

Strong math and analytical abilities.
