The Per Diem Licensed Vocational Nurse at the Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center provides on-demand patient care and clinician support on an as-needed basis. Under direct supervision and following written standing orders or clinician instructions, they perform vital signs assessments, injections, wound care, patient education, rooming, specimen collection, and EHR documentation in both primary care and specialty clinics. They adhere to departmental guidelines, university policies, and community standards of practice, reporting to the LVN Supervisor and/or the Practice Manager at the start and end of each shift and participating in debriefings to relay patient concerns, unfinished tasks, and supply needs. Licensed in California, they must demonstrate competence in basic vocational-nursing procedures, exercise autonomy within their scope while promptly escalating complex issues. The Per Diem Licensed Vocational Nurse will meet with the LVN Supervisor periodically to assess performance. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 1 year Experience working in relevant clinical setting (Required) And 2 years Experience working in relevant clinical setting (Preferred) Ability to assist with basic clinical procedures in Specialty Clinics. (Required) Effective written and oral communication. (Required) Ability to effectively communicate and provide health care information to a diverse student population. (Required) Ability to utilize current technology to provide up-to-date medical care, charting, and communication with students and staff. (Required) Ability to effectively use a PC and knowledge of software such as MS Office, Word, and Outlook. (Required) Ability to review laboratory tests and x-ray reports based on accepted “normals” as prescribed by standards established by MD/NP consultants. (Required) Ability in communication theory and application, including interviewing. (Required) Ability to interact diplomatically to establish rapport and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, administrators and personnel in other departments. (Required) Ability to complete tasks as instructed and set priorities. (Required) Working knowledge in basic nursing, medical and surgical procedures using aseptic technique. (Required) Working knowledge of UC and Ashe Center policies and procedures. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) Vocational Nurse License Upon Hire (Required) And Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certified Upon Hire (Required) And BLS Certification Upon Hire (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
