About the Team The Center for Advanced Gerotherapeutics co-directed by Dr. James Kirkland, MD, PhD and Dr. Tamar Tchkonia, PhD, is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to provide research expertise in fundamental aging. Overall, this project is significant in the field of geroscience, as it seeks to uncover new insights into aging mechanisms and develop innovative interventions that could improve the quality of life and longevity. About the Role Aging mechanisms are believed to be the root causes of various aging-related phenotypes, disorders and diseases. One of the key processes under investigation is cellular senescence, where cells lose their ability to divide and function properly. The Postdoctoral Scientist will assist in seeking to define characteristics of different subtypes of senescent cells (SCs) and understand their roles in aging and disease. Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and complex procedures throughout training period. The incumbent may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. The team member analyzes and interprets data, may assist in preparation of grant proposals, and participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
