Professional Researcher Position University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10263 The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA currently has an opening for an academic researcher to join the research lab of Joan Asarnow, PhD r to lead: a funded project designed to understand the comparative effectiveness of two approaches to emergency care for youths preenting with suicidal ideation and/or behavior; other work focusing on interventions for depression, suicide and self-harm prevention, and improving well-being; and work focusing on understanding risk and protective processes in children and young people. The researcher will take a leadership role in the design and implementation of program research, data analysis, interpretation and dissemination of program results. This will also include overseeing data collection and preparation and completion of data-based reports for project meetings, Data Safety and Management Boards, presentations and publications. The researcher will directly advise and train undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees and other members of the program research teams in program protocols, design, and ensuring rigorous data collection, data validation, and data analysis. Thus, the applicant should have some demonstrated experience supervising students and research staff. The researcher will report directly to the laboratory director. The position requires a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field, experience with clinical and other populations of children and young people, and experience with clinical evaluation, treatment, and/or services. Evidence of manuscript writing along with experience working with a team of researchers from different backgrounds (e.g. psychology, psychiatry, public health, emergency medicine, social work, pediatrics). Salary and corresponding rank and step is dependent on the candidate’s professional experience, research record, and accomplishments. Salary will be consistent with the UCLA Researcher Series The posted UC salary scales ( https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/july-2024-scales/t13-b.pdf ) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.
