Position Summary Western Region Innovation Hub, funded through the NSF I-Corps Program, is the first Hub in the Western US and represents a collaboration of the University of Southern California (USC), California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). UCLA I-Corps program is housed in the Institute for Technology Advancement (ITA) which is a research institute affiliated with the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, dedicated to the effective transition of innovative research from UCLA for commercialization. Under the leadership of the Co-PI of the Western Region Hub and Director of Institute of Technology Advancement, (ITA), UCLA has overseen more than 200 teams of faculty and students participating in the NSF I-Corps program and has sent more than 10 teams to the National NSF program with seed grants of up to $50,000. Incumbent will work closley with the Program Manager who oversees the daily operation of the I-Corps program at UCLA.This job has a variable effort. The expected average effort it 0.5 FTE. The effort will change at the beginning of each quarter based on the incumbent’s other appointments. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications 5+ Several years of applicable research and teaching experience (Preferred) And 3+ Demonstrated contract and project management experience, prefereably in a research/university environment. (Required) And 3+ Demonstrated experience in project management of multi-million dollar programs. (Required) And 3+ Demonstrated experience with development of research specific educational programs and activities for students. (Required) And 3+ Demonstrated course curricula development experience (Required) And 3+ Demonstrated experience in developing curriculae and teaching entrepreneurship. (Required) Knowledge and relationship with funding agencies, e.g., NIH, DARPA, ERA, DOE, NASA, NSF, major companies and venture capital companies. (Required) Specific knowledge of key industry and market segments, e.g., energy, environment, aerospace defense, information processing, communications, or biomedicine, data security for health information technologies. (Required) Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse, multicultural environment interacting frequently with faculty, staff, students, and research communicty representatives, as well as corporate scientists and business executives. (Required) Skill in working as part of a team in collaborating with colleagues. (Required) Ability to analyze complex technical data using logic and quantitative reasoning. (Required) Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, espeically in the area of technical writing. (Required) Knowledge of federal laws as they pertain to research, e.g., ITAR, Export Control, etc. (Required) Demonstrated ability to disseminate research data, e.g., talks, publications, classroom. (Required) Knowledge of entrepreneurship activities at local, county-wide, UCLA, southern California and US. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations High School Diploma (Required) And Bachelor’s Degree in related area and / or equivalent combination of education and experience / training (Preferred) And PhD in a science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics field (Preferred) Special Conditions for Employment Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
