Department Summary As part of its core mission, the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) develops community partnerships that aim to advance scholarly understandings of the diverse Latinx populations. In response to recent demographic shifts and historical developments, the CSRC will be conducting new community-engaged research focused on low-income adolescents, young adults, immigrants and refugees, low-wage workers, and other Latinx groups impacted by multiple social inequalities. These emerging projects aim to inform community programming, policy, and legislation across a range of fields. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications M.A., J.D. or Ph.D. with demonstrated ability to think and work in applied ways to topics related to diverse Latinx community concerns or equivalent education and experience. (Preferred) Five years of professional experience in a related field or position involving diverse Latinx community stakeholders. (Required) Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while responding to changing priorities, fluctuating workloads, frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Exceptional level of analytical writing and strategic thinking skills to prepare materials for university and external communications and reporting using correct grammar and punctuation that is methodical, persuasive, if necessary, succinct and with appropriate recommendations. (Required) Demonstrated familiarity with communications strategy, both pro-active and reactive, and message development for print, digital, and social mediums.Proven ability to lead and manage personnel, including full-time staff, part-time staff, student workers, and consultants. (Required) Ability to manage complex administrative and financial matters.Proven experience in contract and grant development and generation; from pre-to-post award status.Experience managing complex projects and exceeding grant deliverables in a timely manner. (Required) Capacity to develop and initiate complex new programs, research projects, and trainings for community stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to articulate and effectuate goals, strategies, tactics and benchmarks to organizational staff, and community stakeholders. (Required) Knowledge of organizational development and demonstrated ability to steward community-engaged projects. Familiarity with program and project evaluation and ability to evaluate and identify impact of organization’s programs, projects, and research to external stakeholders. (Required) Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline and budget.Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism in verbal and written communications; comfort with public speaking. (Required) Persuasive oral communication skills to lead meetings, explain complex ideas to diverse audiences, build consensus, and influence decision making by internal and external groups from all organizational levels. (Required) Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty; staff; students; community leaders; elected officials; and members of the media. (Required) Demonstrated expertise in the use of software applications, programs, and research interfaces relative to the position, including office software and internet-based programs. (Required) Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.Speaks and writes in Spanish.Prior coursework in Chicana/o/x or Latinx studies.
