Rough Carpentry Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Position Overview
The Rough Carpentry Project Manager will oversee multiple commercial and residential construction projects, managing all phases from estimating and scheduling to budget control and quality assurance. This role requires deep technical knowledge of carpentry materials, methods, and production efficiency to ensure each project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Oversee and manage multiple rough carpentry projects simultaneously across commercial and residential sectors.
Ensure all projects meet established schedules, budgets, manpower goals, and quality standards.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating teams and stakeholders to achieve milestones.
Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, safety, and compliance with building codes.
Identify and address site issues promptly to maintain production efficiency and project profitability.
Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to provide updates and resolve challenges.
Budgeting & Cost Control
Monitor project budgets and financial performance, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Review and approve invoices, estimates, and change orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
Evaluate project performance and proactively assess risks or conditions that may affect profitability.
Team Leadership
Provide leadership and direction to project teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
Mentor and coach junior staff to promote professional growth and skill development.
Manage departmental operations where applicable; experience running a department is a strong plus.
Quality Assurance
Implement and maintain quality control measures to uphold workmanship standards.
Address quality issues promptly and ensure corrective actions meet client expectations.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or 15+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
Minimum 10 years of proven experience as a Project Manager in commercial, residential, or multi-unit rough carpentry and wood framing.
Strong understanding of rough carpentry methods, materials, and applicable building codes.
Wood framing experience is required; field experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple teams or departments.
Proficiency in construction estimating and project management software such as:
AutoCAD, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid
