Special Instructions to Applicants The Summer Internship internship pays $200 per week plus a full University Housing and Dining plan valued at $519.75 per week. The housing and meal package is treated as taxable income by the IRS. Please direct any questions about this position to summerinternship@recreation.ucla.edu Department Summary UCLA Recreation is a large department within the Division of Campus Life in Student Affairs with approximately 90 career/contract full-time employees and over 1,500 part-time employees. UCLA Recreation provides extensive access to a broad range of recreational activities and wellbeing services, and offers programming which encompasses the competitive, passive, social, cultural, and instructional aspects of recreational activity. In addition, the department manages 15 of the university’s recreational and athletic facilities offering recreation, competition, and numerous multi-use options for student and university events. Position Summary The Recreation Summer Intern position at UCLA Recreation is designed for students and early-career professionals seeking hands-on experience in program development, event planning, and administrative initiatives within a dynamic campus recreation environment. Qualifications 6 months Minimum of 6 months experience working in a recreation department and/or related field. (Preferred) Currently working in recreation and/or related fields, and actively pursuing a career within the field of higher education/recreation. (Preferred) Be at least 18 years of age. (Required) Successfully pass a criminal background check. (Required) Posses effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to learn. (Required) Eligible to work in the United States for any employer. (Required) Entering the final year of completing an undergraduate degree or currently pursuing a graduate degree. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations High School High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training (Required) First Aid/CPR Certifications upon hire (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
