What you will be doing
As a Refrigeration Construction Tech, you will be responsible for installation, retrofitting and building of refrigeration equipment and systems. Troubleshooting refrigeration systems, wiring, controls, piping and valves during installation.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for pipe fitting with knowledge of installation requirements for piping slope, traps, valve and system component installation within refrigeration system.
- Operate an oxygen acetylene torch to braze copper and dissimilar metals.
- Ability to recover refrigerant, pump down, evacuate and leak test refrigeration systems.
- Perform electrical diagnosis and poses electrical wiring knowledge.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, including the layout and installation of piping, cases, and coils in walk-in boxes.
- Perform installation of drain lines for cases and walk in evaporator coils.
- Ability to charge systems with refrigerant and set superheat through proper valve adjustment.
- Maintain company and manufacturer specifications during installation of refrigeration equipment and components including local and state codes.
- Operate scissor lift, forklift and other equipment proficiently and safely as required to perform tasks.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as: ordering material, writing purchase orders, material and equipment take-offs, and data entry for refrigerant reports.
- Manage communications of the job with office managers, store associates, coworkers and outside contractors.
- Maintain an organized, neat, clean and safe work environment in mechanical room, sales floor, roof, service vehicle, etc.
- Perform all duties in a safe, timely, efficient and professional manner.
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- Must be computer literate.
- High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of building related vocational – technical programs are preferred.
- Must be willing to work day or night shifts as needed. Including overtime and emergencies.
- Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
- Able to maintain proper neat uniform appearance of Company provided work shirt and employee provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required including arc flash and safety glasses.
- Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
- Able to perform start ups on various system types.
- Able to adjust system set points through various refrigeration management systems
- Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
- General record keeping skills.
- Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
Physical Environment
- Most work is performed in both indoor and outdoor work environments.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching are required in the completion of job duties

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range.
