The Samuel Oschin Cancer Center , nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report, treats more than 60 types of cancer. Its team of experts works to create a treatment plan to meet each patient’s specific needs. The center’s outpatient infusion center offers chemotherapy and supportive services, including 18 private rooms for treatment sessions six hours or longer. The Cedars Sinai Cancer Patient and Family Support Program (PFSP) is committed to supporting patients and their families as they confront the challenges of cancer. Our team of dedicated experts provides compassionate, personalized care for people impacted by cancer and those close to them. We provide resources to help patients prevent and relieve physical, psychological, social and spiritual suffering; plan their future; achieve life goals and navigate any care changes. Summary of Essential Duties: Assist with in office procedures, clinic flow, practice management for Psychiatry and Supportive Care Medicine, and help to facilitate continuity of care set up new oral medications electronically and manage monthly prescriptions Telephone triage of clinic patients with needs ranging from chemotherapy, results review, symptom management, and medication management Triage Patient Advice Requests and other requests in the electronic medical record Manage acute and chronic side effects after treatment Coordinate care and collaborate with clinic staff and other disciplines within PFSP such as dietitian, social work, and spiritual care. Administer intermuscular and subcutaneous injections, and assist with clinic procedures as needed Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, treatment side effects Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and educational opportunities Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required BSN preferred License/Certification: Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of California BLS certification from the American Heart Association required Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or willing to obtain in one years time from start Experience: A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required At least 3 years of experience in oncology nursing??
