Position Summary The Research Administrator will be a member of the Center for Climate Science leadership team, overseeing administrative operations. Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Research Administrator will manage Center budgets, in coordination with relevant unit fund managers; will help to define and will execute on priorities for the Center; and will actively seek opportunities to build and sustain funding. This work will include overseeing the Center’s grant reporting, contributing to the development and execution of grant proposals, and interfacing with program managers and other funder contacts. The incumbent will also manage large collaborative research projects; plan and execute workshops, meetings, and other events; and interface with intramural and extramural research partners and stakeholders. The Research Administrator will hire and manage additional support staff as needed. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required) Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of science, policy, and communications issues related to climate change. (Required) Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile detailed financial data. (Required) Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective; identify relevant concerns or factors; identify patterns, tendencies, and relations; formulate logical and objective conclusions. (Required) Strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment. (Required) Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external constituents of diverse backgrounds. (Required) Demonstrated success in resolving conflicts among diverse collaborative teams. (Required) High level of fluency in word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software, e.g., MS Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint. (Required) Demonstrated ability to prepare budgets for extramural funds in accordance with University and funding agency guidelines and policies. Demonstrated success in pursuing funding opportunities for research or education projects. (Preferred) Experience in grant writing or other development activities. Experience in planning workshops, meetings, or other events. (Preferred) Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments; work independently; and make timely and effective decisions, despite tight deadlines and competing requirements (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
