Position Summary Assist in the management of requirements of scientific instrumentation for space and ground research, particularly magnetometers. Assist in developing requirements for the instrument as well as assessing applicable requirements from the spacecraft. During instrument assembly and testing, assist in verifying the requirements. Assist in writing non-conformance reports and verify their closure. Manage system resource budget of the instrument; Mainly masses, power, and data. Prepare documentation of instrumentation designed by the lab. Participate in the spacecraft integration and testing of instrumentation. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Formal and Technical Writing (Required) Understanding of spacecraft integration and testing (Preferred) Understanding of requirements flowdown (Required) Understanding of spacecraft systems resource budgets (Required) Understanding of fluxgate magnetometer performance and accommodation (Preferred) Working knowledge of lab instruments (eg. oscilloscopes) (Preferred) Working knowledge of Solidworks (Required) Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (Preferred) Ability to work with instrument engineers and scientists as a team in the design, implementation, and testing of instruments (Required) Ability to work independently and to solve complex problems and Skill in oral communication to interact effectively and to present at design reviews (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Fields, Physics or Math or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
