Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Reporting to the Nutrition Manager, the Senior Custodian performs skilled and semi-skilled cleaning, housekeeping and/or general maintenance duties in acute and non-acute in-patient, out-patient and non-patient areas. Exercises care and caution in the use of supplies and equipment while performing custodial tasks. Performs resilient tile and carpet care maintenance tasks (stripping, waxing, and carpet extraction/shampooing). Other various related housekeeping duties may be performed as assigned. Wears appropriate protective gear, using proper gowning techniques while cleaning isolation and non-isolation rooms as directed per departmental policy. Dispose of all re-usable and disposable equipment appropriately. 0% Upon patient discharge, completely washes all bed parts and makes bed using clean linen. Removes and replaces soiled disposable or reusable draperies, marking them with the correct floor and room number. Also reports the status of all discharge rooms via the computerized tracking system. 35% Strips and waxes floors appropriately by type, ensuring cleanliness of all corners, edges, and baseboards. Performs carpet extraction and shampooing appropriately. 10% Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to management in a timely manner and tags approiately 0% Maintains knowledge of Medical Center and departmental policies relating to cleanliness standards, as well as the preparation and maintenance of chemical solutions within established guidelines. 0% Maintain knowledge of Medical Center and departmental policies relating to appropriate cleanliness standards, as well as the preparation and maintenance of chemical solutions within established guidelines. This includes keeping a clean and complete custodial cart, ensuring appropriate chemicals and supplies are readily available in all work areas, shops and equipment rooms. All equipment should be maintained to ensure a safe and productive completion of assignments. Any broken or malfunctioning equipment should be tagged appropriately and be reported to management in a timely manner. 10% Maintain a clean and complete custodial cart, ensuring chemicals and supplies are readily available, also maintains all equipment in good working order to ensure safe and productive completion of assignments. 0% Assists in organizing materials, supplies, inventories and surplus items while maintaining job sites, work areas, shops and equipment rooms. 0% Appropriately clean/disinfect all restrooms. Clean/polish all furniture, appliances, surfaces and glass panels. Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum all traffic lanes, breezeways, walkways, stairwells and carpeted areas using appropriate disinfectants. High dust all ledges, vents, blinds, lights and door frames. 40% Accurately identifies non-biohazardous, hazardous, chemotherapy, sharps and recyclable waste items, while effectively removing, transporting, sorting and storing such items in the appropriate holding areas.
