As the Senior Director of Development for the Medical Education and Scholarship Program, you will have a significant impact in raising funds to help UCLA to recruit some of the nation’s best medical and graduate students, lifting the burden of debt and facilitating pursuit of career paths aligned with their passions, including dual-degree programs and scholarly research. Your work will also support associated initiatives identified as priorities by the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA’s Vice Dean for Education. As the Senior Director of Development, Medical Education and Scholarship Programs, you will design and lead a comprehensive development program to address specific needs and priorities for medical education and scholarship programs and initiatives. You will establish goals and objectives, manage strategy for fundraising, stewardship, cultivation and communications and will be responsible for developing annual operating plans and evaluating progress to goals. As the Senior Director, you will also personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors at the five and six+ figure level, manage a portfolio of active major gift prospects and manage staff. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Minimum of five years of progressively significant, relevant, successful experience in fundraising, with an emphasis on grateful patient fundraising and major gift experience and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required) Experience working in a highly matrixed organization, with a successful track record of building a culture of philanthropy and strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. (Required) Experience participating in strategic planning. (Required) Proven track record in development or comparable program planning and management with a strong understanding of major gift fundraising preferably in an academic medical school setting. (Required) Skill in developing and implementing successful strategies for identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals, corporations, and foundations. (Required) Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline. (Required) Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with donors, volunteers, academic leaders, faculty, staff. (Required) Excellent oral and written communication skills. (Required) Management and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate professional staff and volunteers. (Required) The ability to navigate and be effective within a complex organization. (Required) Self-starter who works independently while, at the same time works well collectively and collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
