Description
As a Senior Public Affairs Representative for Metropolitan’s Education Team, you will collaborate with schools, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, scouting troops, and our Member Agencies to develop, organize, and deliver immersive water education resources and programs.
Metropolitan’s environmental education programs offer both online and in-person experiences, including field trips, classroom presentations, hands-on activities, school assemblies, teacher workshops, inquiry-based competitions, and educational partnerships. These initiatives engage students on key water topics such as conservation, supply, quality and sustainability. This role works directly with students, teachers and partnering organizations to implement education programs and ensure they are accessible, relevant and informative for diverse student populations across Southern California.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. Occasionally, additional in person days may be required This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
This position will report to Metropolitan’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Regular travel to Metropolitan facilities, including Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet, Pure Water Southern California in Carson, and other sites throughout our six-county service area, is required.
Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative II level; or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative II level.
Relevant Experience is defined as: Combination of work experience with formal or informal K-12 education, outreach, conservation programs, communications (verbal and written), marketing, or advocacy on public policy or environmental issues.
