Senior Research Scientist – Composites R&I

Anaheim, CA  | Direct Hire | $120-150k/yr

Kelly Science and Clinical is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to join their Composite R&I group in Anaheim. This role is central to driving breakthrough innovation in next-generation materials and process technology. You will lead research projects that support growth in the Defense, Aerospace, and Automotive industries while ensuring alignment with overall business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead and manage development projects in the composites sector with minimal supervision.

– Utilize fundamental scientific principles in research to advance the company’s strategic goals.

– Build and maintain technical relationships with internal teams and external customers, sharing research findings.

– Innovate, protect intellectual property, and support technical projects while mentoring junior team members.

– Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, ensuring timely delivery of business objectives.

Qualifications:

– PhD in Organic/Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.

– 5+ years of experience in Composite materials, ideally with customer-facing or manufacturing project involvement.

– Expertise in thermoset composites and deep technical knowledge in organic/polymer chemistry.

– Experience in product/process transition from R&D to production, with familiarity in six sigma processes.

– Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead and influence teams.

– Authorization to work in the U.S. and compliance with U.S. export control requirements.
