Department Summary Academic Technology sets the strategy for a portfolio of enterprise-wide products and platforms enabling the activities of academic stakeholders across the university. The Academic Technology team designs, develops, configures, enhances, optimizes, and maintains core enterprise technologies for UCLA?s academic functions (Admissions & Financial Aid, Student Records & Engagement, Billing & Accounts Receivable, Bruin Learn Center of Excellence, and Faculty Information Products), ensuring functionality, quality, business value, user experience, and digital accessibility of the products and platforms to meet the expectations of the campus community. Academic Technology fuels ITS? cloud-first strategy by strategically reducing technical debt in partnership with other departments and teams leveraging cutting-edge techniques to accelerate releases using automation and application lifecycle management standards and tools. The Student Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, optimizes, and refines student products and application technologies, including admissions & financial aid products, student records & engagement products, and billing & accounts receivable (BAR) products. Position Summary The Senior Software Developer, Bruin Financial Aid is required to have an understanding of Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) and its integration with existing Student Information Systems (SIS) and other Financial Aid systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in software development, data integration, and system architecture. They will be responsible for improving and updating the existing integration processes, ensuring seamless data flow between SFP and other systems. This will involve tasks such as data mapping, ETL development, API integration, and troubleshooting system issues. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and implement solutions that align with the University’s strategic goals. A strong understanding of data lakes and data warehousing concepts will be beneficial for leveraging data-driven insights and improving decision-making processes. The Senior Software Developer, Bruin Financial Aid will positively impact UCLA’s operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Financial Aid products and applications. This team member will advance the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. Qualifications Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, software development, or related field. (Required) Advanced experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. Expertise in languages like Node.js, Python, Java, .Net, JavaScript, PHP, or similar. (Required) Significant experience in the design and development of complex enterprise applications using .NET 6+, C#, API, GraphQL, JWT Tokenization, Angular 2+. (Required) Significant experience in the design and development of complex enterprise applications using Docker, Github, CloudFormation, Cloud Watch, CodePipeline, Github, RDS and related technologies. (Required) Advanced experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Experience developing and executing complex test plans. (Required) Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, software development. (Preferred) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Advanced knowledge and skill in secure software development, software repository skills, and software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of large-scale scope. (Required) Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar. (Required) Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate complex technical ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. Can relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required) Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required) Advanced organizational skills, ability to balance priorities, deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholders.
