Are you an experienced trust professional who thrives at the intersection of client service, fiduciary expertise, and business development? Our bank is seeking a Senior Trust Officer to manage complex trust relationships, cultivate new business opportunities, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients, beneficiaries, and centers of influence.

In this senior role, you will independently administer trust accounts, interpret governing documents, and ensure all actions comply with applicable laws and internal policies. You will also support investment management agency accounts, contribute to operational initiatives, and provide guidance to Client Service Associates and Trust Officers.

Key Responsibilities
Manage trust relationships, including opening, administering, and closing trust accounts

Conduct new business meetings with prospective clients and close opportunities aligned with business development goals

Interpret governing documents and execute terms in compliance with state, local, and federal laws

Prepare distribution plans and evaluate discretionary distribution requests

Build strong relationships with beneficiaries, clients, and centers of influence (COIs)

Complete regulatory reporting, including administrative and Reg 9 reviews

Collaborate with attorneys, CPAs, and investment managers to support client estate, tax, and succession planning

Apply knowledge of asset allocation and investment theory to support client portfolios

Understand fiduciary tax laws and fiduciary accounting principles, including UPAIA

Engage with community COIs through professional organizations and nonprofit involvement

Identify and report departmental risks and assist with mitigation strategies

Provide leadership to Trust Officers and Client Service Associates as needed

Skills & Qualifications
Strong client service skills with the ability to resolve issues independently

Thorough knowledge of trust, tax, and probate law

Understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, risk tolerance, and investment policy development

Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Professional communication skills and ability to interact credibly with attorneys, CPAs, and other advisors

Experience with trust accounting software

Strong writing skills for drafting original correspondence

Advanced proficiency in Word and Excel; intermediate PowerPoint skills

Self-starter mindset with minimal supervision required

JD, CTFA, AEP, or similar designation preferred

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced designations preferred

7–10 years of trust administration experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Demonstrated track record of fiduciary expertise and client relationship success
