The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is from $68,800 – $85,000 annually, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.

Position Summary

The University of California, Los Angeles provides approximately 22,000 parking spaces to accommodate the needs of a growing community of 80,000 staff, faculty, students, patients and visitors. All 3 business units within UCLA Parking Services (PS) work together to develop innovative parking solutions and technologies to deliver a seamless customer experience. The Space Utilization and Configuration Manager provides managerial and administrative oversight of strategic projects in support of Commuter and Parking Services (C&PS) operations, a highly visible 24/7/365 customer service operation serving the core campus, the medical campus and special event venues. Serve as a member of the Bruin Commuter Programs (BCP) leadership team, actively participating in business & administrative planning efforts and customer experience improvement programs in support of C&PS and the overall Events and Transportation (E&T) Mission, Vision and Values. Directly lead all space utilization on the core campus and all configuration for all parking permit sales. This is a highly visible and collaborative role, needing to exercise influence along with possessing a high degree of political acumen and sound judgement. Manage the development and implementation of projects that improve commuting customer experience and leverage new and evolving transportation technologies, which align with the greater Administration strategic initiatives. Coordinate and facilitate work groups and teams to support strategic initiatives. Act as a liaison to and interact with all levels of the campus community, Parking Services, and E&T. Lead by example and demonstrate a professional and respectful approach to dealing with employees and customers at all times. Perform complex analyses and project work as requested by management and/or E&T Senior Management in support of decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 year?s experience working in permit management and/or space utilization organizations (Required)
  • 1. Demonstrated ability to clearly and logically analyze qualitative and quantitative information, trends, and policies. Ability to develop broad organizational assessments and initiatives, as well as more selected and focused plans, solutions, and advice. (Required)
  • 2. Highly developed skill in both verbal and written communication to address sensitive, complex, and broad ranging issues in a university and business setting. (Required)
  • 3. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with management, process owners, project team members, colleagues, customers, and internal/external contacts at all levels. Demonstrated ability to perform with a high degree of composure, judgment, and political acumen to effectively address varied issues of a politically sensitive, highly visible, or closely scrutinized nature.   • 9. Working knowledge of parking and commuter programs within a large University environment, including experience with permit management systems, citation management systems, and space allocation and utilization methodologies. (Required)
  • 10. Demonstrated oral communication skills to explain operational procedures, conveying information clearly, concisely and accurately. Skill in writing sufficient to prepare accurate, understandable and grammatically correct procedure documentation and system requirements. (Required)
  • 11. Knowledge of relational database table structure, and ability to understand and utilize various operational systems used in selling and managing parking as well as space counting methodologies and operating their related systems. Excellent MS Office Suite skills. Ability to learn, retain and adhere to all University of California Parking and Policy Rules and Regulations. (Required)
  • 12. Familiarity with the campus layout, streets and buildings, as well as the location of parking facilities managed and operated by the University. – Can be trained (Preferred)
  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) or Certified Parking Professional (CPP) certifications (Preferred)
