Sr. Commodity Analyst
The Sr. Commodity Analyst is responsible for all financial analysis and planning, risk management, and supply chain sensitivity analysis for Niagara’s largest procured commodity, resin. This role will provide crucial input to leadership to support Niagara’s leading low-cost global procurement strategy. In addition to preparing and presenting detailed technical financial analysis, this role will also identify opportunities to reduce Total Cost of Ownership as well as provide recommendations for process improvement and performance tracking metrics.
Essential Functions
- Prepare weekly market commentary reports for leadership summarizing key findings from primary and secondary sources, including news articles, market reports, industry publications, and competitor analysis
- Use statistical and predictive modelling techniques, such as Regression Analysis, to develop price forecasting models for the resin Niagara procures
- Responsible for the creation of the annual budget, including all price forecasting used within, and presenting to senior leadership
- Develop various risk management strategies in the context of budget protection, price management, changing regulation, and supply continuity. Present and defend recommended strategies using detailed analysis
- Simulate different market scenarios using tools such as Monte Carlo Simulation and provide recommendations on procurement strategies under the different modelled scenarios
- Understand the supply chain of Niagara’s procured resins and identify opportunities to improve supply continuity and reduce costs
- Study global trade flow(s) of resin and upstream/downstream commodities
- Identify opportunities to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Assist with RFP/RFQ processes from a financial analysis lens by mapping out proposals, performing sensitivity analysis, and summarizing competitiveness relative to other proposals
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support the procurement efforts of the team
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and performance tracking metrics
- May require oversight/management and/or creation of monthly Purchase Orders (POs) and payment requests to the Finance team
- This position may require travel up to 25%
