The
Pediatric Echocardiographic Technician, under the supervision of the UCLA
Cardiac Imaging Medical Director, Operations Director and Manager, performs
various echocardiographic studies, including 2-D, M-mode, Doppler, stress,
fetal and assists with transesophageal echocardiograms. They work
independently, performing and interpreting these studies, while notifying
physicians of urgent results and preparing preliminary reports. Duties also
include maintaining records and ensuring accurate charge capture for echo
studies. Technicians assist in additional patient care tasks and must be
available for on-call duty, with responsibility for patient safety and
communication with medical staff.

Internal candidates will be hired at their current level.

Seniority Levels
and requirements are as follows:

  • Echo Tech: ARDMS-RDCS (PE) or attainment within 6
    months of hire (must have CCI until ARDMS is attained). Pediatric/Fetal echo
    tech experience preferred. Salary Range: $51.22 – $67.63
    Hourly
  • Sr. Echo Tech: ARDMS-RDCS (PE) and 3
    years of Pediatric/Fetal echo tech experience required. Salary Range: $61.46 –
    $81.12 Hourly
  • Principle Echo Tech: ARDMS-RDCS (PE) and
    ARDMS-RDCS (FE). 7 years of Adult or Pediatric/Fetal echo tech experience
    required. Salary Range: $64.55 – $85.14 Hourly

Salary Range: $51.22 – $85.14 Hourly

Qualifications

 

  • ARDMS or attainment of ARDMS within 6 months of hire (must have and maintain CCI until ARDMS is attained)
  • Graduate of cardiac echocardiography technology program or registered under prior ARDMS certification rules – required
  • BCLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross – required
  • At least 2 years of Pediatric sonography experience – preferred
  • Ability to scan in appropriate fashion, depicting all views of areas consistent with appropriate diagnostic requirements for appropriate age of patient
  • Ability to detect lethal diagnostic information that should be considered emergent and communicate with the appropriate entities
  • Ability to push heavy equipment to do portable studies
  • Ability to adhere to infection control initiatives as they pertain to the use of all equipment including TEE probes
