To learn more about UC Irvine, visit www.uci.edu . SRA will be working in a lab focused on examining molecular mechanism of metabolic regulation as well as metabolic disease processes. Under supervision of Principal Investigator general responsibilities will include: mouse husbandry including managing breeding pairs, weaning, and phenotyping/genotyping, dynamic physiologic testing in mice, simple surgical techniques in mice, tissue and cell harvest and processing from laboratory samples; flow cytometry; molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, molecular cloning including CRISPR/Cas9 based gene editing, and Western blotting; ELISA assays, immunohistochemistry and histologic image analysis and general support including ordering and receiving supplies and organizing laboratory inventory. High School diploma is required and laboratory experience in cellular and molecular biology as well as mouse handling is preferred. Excellent organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and meticulous record-keeping are required for this position.
