SpecPro Sustainment & Environmental (SSE) is in search of a Staff Professional Engineer/Geologist (PE/PG) in California. This role will perform/oversee multiple environmental programs for SSE throughout southern and central California. The work will be largely remote with occasional site visits for meetings/inspections.
This role is critical in ensuring the effective execution of the Performance Work Statements (PWS) for Central Coast Regional Board Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Support and the San Diego Water Board LUST Transition Support. This position will also support and oversee the Groundwater/Soil Gas Monitoring at Ft. Irwin Solid Waste Landfill.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares Monthly progress reports and deliverables to the customer
  • Coordinates and completes monthly check-in meetings with agendas and meeting minutes with the State Water Board staff
  • Act as primary point of contact for corporate and waterboard staff
  • Provide support to the Central Coast Regional Water Board (Region 3) , based in San Luis Obispo, CA, and the California State Water Board (EPA Region 9), to help them effectively manage the open LUST cleanup cases within their portfolio.
  • Coordinate the work of subcontractors and other SpecPro Sustainment and Environmental personnel assigned to the project and oversee the schedule, workplan, and deliverables
  • Review most current technical report(s) for each LUST case (Currently 135 cases)
  • Prepare a 1-page narrative summary for each case, plus complete an LTCP checklist describing whether the site meets each LTCP criterion.
  • Prepare Low-Threat Closure Policy (LTCP) Analysis Reports to assist with transitioning LUST cases between agencies
  • Prepare LUST Case Closure Summary Packages
  • Travel to some LUST sites across the Central Coast and Southern California
  • Travel to Ft. Irwin for quarterly monitoring events
  • Perform/coordinate quarterly sampling events with onsite staff
  • Prepare groundwater/soil gas monitoring final reports
  • Develop a project management plan and lead and coordinate work while organizing and monitoring work streams across multiple staff and teams.
  • Facilitate meetings, calls and workshops, both in-person and virtual
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field required.
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • An active PE or PG in the state of California is required
