Department Summary The UC Center for Laboratory Safety (UCCLS) was created to improve laboratory safety by conducting research to provide evidence-based best safety practices in the laboratory. The tripartite mission of the Center is to:- Conduct and support research in laboratory safety and translate it into best practices- Communicate and engage with researchers and health & safety professionals on laboratory safety- Provide expert advice and consultation regarding laboratory safetyWe work with all ten UC campuses and the national and international research communities.We communicate through publications, presentations, site visits, investigations, consultations, and workshops for researchers, EH&S professionals, and administrative leadership. Position Summary The UC Center for Laboratory Safety (UCCLS) was created to improve laboratory safety by conducting research to provide evidence-based best safety practices in the laboratory. We are looking for a Training Accessibility Specialist to develop new training content for the Safety Training Consortium (STC) and update existing STC courses, documents, and web pages to ensure compliance with current accessibility requirements. this position analyzes resources and develops recommendations to address a wide range of accessibility issues. The individual tests courses to ensure they are functional, designed for learning in mind, and compliant with learning management systems and accessibility standards. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 2 years minimum Related experience in essential job skills, policies, and procedures to independently complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity (Required) And Experience using screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies to check accessibility of courses, documents, and websites (Required) And Experience with document remediation (Required) And Experience creating closed captions and audio descriptions (Required) And 1 year minimum Experience with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline 3 or 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.) (Required) And Experience remediating webpages (Preferred) And 1 year minimum Combined experience with multimedia development (including editing photos, videos, and audio) (Preferred) And 1 year minimum Combined analytical, program/project management, or training program support experience. (Preferred) And University of California experience or familiarity with higher education institutions or non-profit organizations (Preferred) And Proficiency with document accessibility. (Required) Working knowledge of state and federal legislation pertaining to accessibility. (Required) Advanced reading, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. (Required) Proficiency a learning management system (such as SumTotal, Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Cornerstone, etc.) (Required) Proficiency using software systems in the completion of work assignments (for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). (Required) Knowledge of adult learning theories and education methodologies. (Preferred) Basic knowledge of laboratory safety policies and procedures. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
