Surgeon – Scientist Faculty, Hand Surgery University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10667 The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, specializing in hand surgery. Qualified candidates must have completed an Orthopaedic Surgery or Plastic Surgery Residency program, successfully completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship, and must be board certified or board eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery or Plastic Surgery, and be able to obtain a California medical license. Applicants are expected to have excellent clinical skills and be willing to actively participate in medical education. Faculty rank and step with UCLA will be determined and commensurate with the applicant’s background and accomplishments. As a hand surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the faculty member will be expected to teach medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as provide care for hand pathology for UCLA Health patients. The faculty member will be expected to participate in the hand call pool covering for emergency hand issues at both Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica Hospitals. Candidates should be fully engaged in providing state-of-the-art, patient-centered care. We seek an accomplished physician with an interest in developing an academic orthopaedic surgery practice focused on hand surgery. The candidate must be comfortable covering microsurgery in an orthopaedic hand surgery call pool. Candidates should be enthusiastic about engaging in educating medical students, residents, and fellows, serving the university community, and augmenting one of the nation’s leading departments.
