Department Summary Infrastructure Services provides flexible, reliable, and secure traditional and cloud infrastructure services (network services, platform services, data center operations and management, and unified communications) enabling connectivity, productivity, and security for UCLA. Platform Services enables hybrid cloud for computing, storage, and services environments with a mix of on-premises infrastructure, private cloud services, and public cloud. This team creates seamless orchestration across various platforms to enable agility, scalability, reliability, and lower infrastructure costs. This allows for applications and components to interoperate across boundaries improving developer productivity as well asregulatory compliance and security. Platform Services oversees provisioning, hosting, and administration of physical and virtual servers and related storage. Position Summary As a member of the IT Services Platform Services team, the Systems Analyst provides diverse technical services in support of mission-critical operating systems such as z/OS mainframe and other platforms including Windows and/or Linux that support business operations for the campus. Primary responsibilities will include provisioning access to critical system and application resources, creation, modification and deletion of system and user accounts, in addition to administering file and database access rule changes. The Systems Analyst will also support the campus Distributed Administrative Computing Security System (DACSS), mainframe application release management and job scheduling functions including granting and removing of functions that control user access to enterprise applications. This role will work in close collaboration with IT Services application developers, data center operations team, Department Security Administrators (DSAs), and also participates in the campus DACSS Workgroup. Additional responsibilities may include documentation of standard procedures, supporting application testing efforts, software product patching and upgrades and general customer support. The Systems Analyst may work after hours as needed or assigned. Qualifications One year experience working in one or more of the following fields: production support, platform services, information technology or a related field. (Required) Experience providing production support for z/OS mainframe and/or other operating platforms such as Windows and/or Linux and associated tools including JCL, !SPF, and system utilities (e.g., IEBCOPY a (Required) Basic knowledge and experience of z/OS security administration using CAACF2, CA-Scheduler, JAMS and GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (or similar tools). (Required) Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (Required) Three or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: production support, platform services, information technology. (Preferred) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Ability and willingness to provide technical support after-hours as assigned or requested. (Required) Ability to effectively utilize common office productivity software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, and internet browsers. (Required) Ability to develop and maintain collaborative professional relationships with functional and technical staff at all levels. (Required) Strong written and verbal communication skills. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement). The anticipated pay range for this position is $89,507 – $104,641, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
