Job Summary The duties assigned contribute to the safe, effective, and efficient accomplishment of the chemistry laboratory classes taught in Resnick Lab. Essential Job Duties Clean and distribute glassware for various laboratory courses using both a glassware washing/drying machine and by hand washing. Restock and inventory laboratory supplies as needed, including redistributing communal equipment. Check and clean the student work stations and shared equipment areas. Assist in maintaining and issuing supplies (for example, keys, goggles, lab coats) to students and assist in maintaining the inventory of student lockers. Assist in carrying out various safety duties, including proper labeling and handling of chemicals and chemical waste. Assist in cleaning, servicing, and assembling select pieces of equipment and apparatus, and in checking instruments as assigned. Assist Laboratory Administrator with classroom materials; help prepare handouts and other instructional materials. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications 1 year of relevant work experience. High school-level chemistry and/or prior experience working with chemicals. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to understand, apply, and follow standard operating and safety procedures, techniques, and methods to accomplish tasks. Basic knowledge and understanding of specialized cleaning of various scientific glassware, instruments, equipment, and devices. Familiarity and comfort with handling chemicals. Effective oral and written communication skills.
