TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Tool Room – Technician.
Key responsibilities:
- Pull/Build tools for upcoming scheduled jobs from production schedule using a Zoller Tool Pre-setter and master tool list details. Load tools in designated machine(s).
- Replace/rebuild worn/expired cutters with new to support build shop demand. Inspect and measure cutters and holders for defects, wear and tear. Determine if appropriate tool life is applied to the tool.
- Maintain organization, detailed inventory control (issuances, returns, purchases) and housekeeping in the VLM and tooling area.
- Place purchase orders for any required cutters, holders, inserts, etc., ensuring no production delays due to tool availability. Follow thru to ensure all ordered items are correctly received, inventoried and stored.
- Setup and perform cycle count of cutters, holders, inserts, etc. stocked in machines, VLM, and tool room.
- Continuously improve the processes within the Tool room to maximize efficiency of tool build process, ordering, inventory control, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate will have:
- High School diploma AND AA Degree or completed trade school study relevant toward CNC machine manufacturing.
- 3 years’ experience working in a highly dynamic, metric driven, close tolerance manufacturing environment, with responsibilities in cutting tool build, procurement and inventory management.
- Knowledge of machine shop, tool setting, maintenance, repair, and tool room practice.
- Strong / proven organizational and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, required to coordinate with multiple machinists.
- Strong knowledge in machine tooling applications (eg. reamers, end mills, boring bars, taps, drills, etc.)
- Ability to work both independently and in a team, environment is essential.
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Professional communication via e-mail systems or internal
Physical Requirements:
- Constant need to perform the following physical activities to perform service, maintenance or repair to equipment: Bend, stoop, climb, push or pull.
- Lifting/carrying up to 50lbs on occasion.
A successful candidate may have:
- Machine shop, Tool Room or equivalent experience is a plus
- Direct experience with root cause analysis associated with CNC machine tools, cutting tools and human performance.
- Passion for precision and efficiency
- Experience building tools using different types of holders
- Zoller knowledge is a plus

The annual base salary range for this position is $69,300.00 – $112,600.00.
