Description
As a Training Specialist, you will be responsible for modifying and delivering pre-developed training courses in high voltage switching, electrical safety, and general safety topics that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, and Metropolitan policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for delivering the related training to MWD staff via in person, webinar, or hybrid platforms as well as perform hands on practical assessments (electrical). Additionally, you will perform equipment-related and hands-on practical assessments associated with assigned training deliveries and assist the instructor for the Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
Schedule: 4/10 – (Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm)
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:High school diploma or general education development test (GED) and six years of occupational experience in the subject matter areas including at least two years at the journey-level; or an Associate’s degree and four years of occupational experience in the subject matter areas including at least two years at the journey-level; or
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience.
Subject matter area is defined as: experience presenting training within the electrical field; and/or experience as a journey level electrician responsible for high voltage switching and providing on-the-job-training to electrical apprentices.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
