Position Summary UCLA Colleges Division of Undergraduate Education serves as the campus-wide advocate for undergraduate education, providing leadership to achieve the highest quality of teaching and learning. As the Assistant Dean of Development for UCLA Undergraduate Education, you will work with College and Division leadership, faculty and staff to raise funds that enable academic success for UCLAs diverse undergraduate population, ensuring options for all students to engage in a challenging array of educational opportunities. Drawing on your fundraising experience and zest for excellence, you will lead a team to grow a strong portfolio of major gift donors. This is a high potential position to expand your fundraising skills as you work closely with the Dean on varied and complex gifts across campus as you design and implement a strategic development plan that represents the Deans priorities and advances support for the divisions initiatives. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Minimum of seven years Progressive responsibility and experience as a professional development officer or similar experience in a nonprofit, membership/volunteer driven or related environment. Major gift experience Demonstrated experience in soliciting high-level major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. Expert knowledge of principles and practices of major gift fundraising in a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (Required) Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement a comprehensive development or similar program of comparable size and complexity including the ability to envision and articulate future direction. (Required) Appropriate management and administrative skills needed to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals and volunteers; strong supervisory skills to oversee and evaluate the efforts of professional fundraisers. (Required) Excellent communication skills to express, both orally and in writing, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to the UCLA College and Division of Undergraduate Education. (Required) Effective verbal communication skills to make persuasive oral presentations to senior management and internal and external constituencies; conduct participatory meetings; gain acceptance of decisions; and advise and collaborate with others. (Required) Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with academic leaders, faculty, staff, donors and volunteers. (Required) Strong strategic thinking skills aligned with the ability to implement and follow through. (Required) Steadfast commitment to work of impeccable integrity with strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations and programs as well to define and implement special fundraising and/or other program related projects.
