Assistant Director for Recreation and Operations, Sports, Recreation and Wellness Department The Assistant Director of Recreation & Operations manages the Fitness Center, including the student staff, fitness equipment, group exercise classes and programing. This position is responsible for all day-to-day operations, policies, student development and special events. Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles). Hybrid work schedule available. Start Date: Immediately Application Deadline: Open until filled Annual Salary Rate Range: $70,304.04 – $70,699.20 Monthly Salary Rate Range: $5,858.67 – $5,891.60 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Duties and Responsibilities : Principles of inclusion, empowerment, and personal well-being. Responsible for all aspects of an extensive student employment program including recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation. Manage all day-to-day operations of the University’s Fitness Center. Manage operating budget for the Fitness Center and programming. Provide general support to the Director and Associate Director in the overall operation of the of the department. Other Duties and Responsibilities : Provide support to the Sports, Recreation & Wellness department and various facilities as needed. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to support delivery of programs and services that enhance the general education and development of students. Participate in various Student Affairs Division and university committees and task forces as requested. Perform other job-related duties, as assigned. Job Requirements: Knowledge : General knowledge of higher education administration and student development theory along with sound understanding of the concepts of fitness and recreational activities and the educational sports, as well as staff and student development. Sufficient working knowledge of anatomy, physiology and fitness principles and women’s issues necessary for implementing a complete fitness program. Abilities and Skills : Efficiently and effectively, manage a multi-faceted facility and program maintaining exemplary levels of customer service throughout all programs and services. Ability to foster and promote an integrated team approach to student programming and successfully assess programming impact on learning outcomes. A commitment to outstanding student service and teamwork are essential. Strong supervisory skills and excellent fiscal, oral and written communication, organizational, prioritization, administrative, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Education : Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college/university, preferably in recreation, physical education, sports management, exercise science, wellness, or related field. Master’s degree or 3 years related experience preferred. Experience : Two or more years’ experience overseeing a fitness facility. University recreation experience preferred Licenses and Certifications : Current First-aid/AED and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
