DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International’s Southern California Bridge Practice is seeking a Project Manager!

The Bridge Project Manager is responsible for pursuit and delivery of transportation related projects involving preliminary engineering and plans, specification, and estimate (PS&E) projects. The selected Bridge Project Manager will perform technical oversight, staff development, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management for targeted statewide and regional clients.

The Project Manager will have the opportunity to work with key staff in the region on marquee projects. Project Managers openly share technical knowledge and mentor and supervise engineers in assignments such as preparing studies, reports and supporting documentation; quantities and construction cost estimates; and construction drawings needed for bridge, public works and transportation related projects. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience on new, widening, retrofit, and replacement bridge projects, flood control structures, and retaining wall projects with Caltrans and AASHTO LRFD design standards.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Prepare technical and cost proposals to win work.
  • Participate in professional society meetings, as appropriate; where you will work to develop and maintain relationships with key clients, teaming partners, and potential technical staff hires.
  • Review project proposals and plans to determine scope, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects and staffing requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel on specific tasks.
  • Manage staff utilization by scheduling, monitoring and revising assignments.
  • Provide quality control, quality assurance for bridge projects of simple and complex nature.
  • Perform technical analyses, calculations and tasks as needed.
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Management, or similar degree
  • California P.E. is required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in bridge and transportation engineering, with a minimum of 3 years managing bridge related projects for Caltrans or other local agencies in California
  • Familiarity with California DOT (Caltrans) standards and procedures
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis and design software programs
  • Experience in using MicroStation and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead and interact with multi-disciplined teams
  • A background in business development, proposal writing, networking and strong listener of client’s needs is preferred

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $160,000-$235,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
