The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. USC Clinical Trial Office (CTO) is seeking a budget specialist with experience in the administration of industry sponsored research in an academic center.  As a Budget Specialist, the candidate is responsible for the development and negotiation of budgets for industry sponsored clinical trials.  The budget specialist is responsible for reviewing the Medicare coverage analysis, protocol, sponsor proposed budget and informed consent (if available) and fully accounting for all clinical costs and investigator and study team effort required to carry out the study, as well as costs for ancillary services.  The budget specialist should be familiar with capturing all associated CPT codes and confirming unit costs for procedures, labs, and other associated fees on an internal budget, and negotiating with sponsor or CRO representatives to obtain full funding for industry sponsored studies.  The budget specialist also communicates with  the CTO Contracts Manager to ensure that all costs and subject reimbursement terms are appropriately captured in the clinical trial agreement. All budgets are developed within the clinical trial management system so experience using OnCore or similar systems is a plus.  Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Education:  Bachelor??s Degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Preferred Experience:  Minimum of three years in clinical trials administration or budgeting Minimum of 5 years in academic research or industry sponsored research Preferred Field of Expertise:  Budget development and negotiation The annual base salary range for this position is $81,873.83 – $95,000.04 .
