Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The Business Intelligence Specialist collects, analyzes, and summarizes data for complex business problems to provide insight for key Nursing stakeholders, including Nursing Directors, the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Medical Center executives and administrative and clinical department leaders to support departmental forecasting and planning. Develop forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans based on business data knowledge. Works with business and clinical units to understand and prioritize data and information requirements. Creates specifications based on business needs and required/available data elements. Supports leadership decision-making in various subject matter areas including performance metrics, scheduling, resource utilization, labor and productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction measures. Required Qualifications: Two years of previous experience in business systems analysis in the healthcare industry Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards & best practices Strong verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues Experience with Epic EMR system Excellent computer skills and experience with a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Excellent Interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, patients and other medical personnel. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and control various activities efficiently and effectively Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent business experience/training Advanced knowledge and skill in internal databases, BI applications, tools, and systems. Able to translate complex data and information and communicate it simply and effectively to constituents. Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines under pressure Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as it relates to patient confidentiality, HIPPA, and all other state and federal regulations related to patient care. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in business or related field Experience with forecast and operation trend tools in Excel. Knowing how to use data simulations and solver is a plus.
