University Advancement is seeking a Developer, Data Insights & Visualization to join its Business Intelligence team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Data Insights & Reporting UI/UX, the incumbent will serve as a lead subject matter expert for business intelligence-related queries and data visualization. The Developer is part of our central Advancement team (University Advancement) and will support constituents across the wider Advancement community (comprising central staff and school/unit staff) by demonstrating excellence in process management and request fulfillment/execution. The ideal candidate is committed to excellent service standards and proficient in equipping data visualization tools to inform decision-making, contributing to successful University-wide fundraising efforts. This is a hybrid position under our current work arrangement plan, with the expectation of on-site presence in our downtown Los Angeles office (USC Tower). Responsibilities Serve as a primary subject matter expert for business intelligence-related queries from USCs advancement community through co-management of a request intake system. Assist with prioritizing the request workload and ensuring that all queries and requests are answered efficiently and tracked effectively. Develop professional-quality business intelligence, data visualization, and analytics content in support of University Advancements strategic priorities, primarily using Tableau and data modeling via advanced SQL. Contribute to the design, enhancement, and maintenance of high-quality data architectures that align with University Advancements business requirements and improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality. Standardize and simplify BI products and resources to promote shared data understanding and comprehension across University Advancement. Consult regularly with colleagues and end users to identify and resolve gaps in the organizations BI offerings and data accessibility. Develop and document use cases, standards, and best practices associated with BI tools, resources, and design standards. Utilize database query and scripting languages (such as SQL) to create data extracts and establish datasets from University Advancement data sources for use in content delivered to end users. Maintain proficiency and currency in industry standard UI/UX, reporting, and data delivery practices and software tools through proactive, self-guided learning and professional development opportunitiesm including but not limited to training and conference attendance. Perform other duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree. Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following business intelligence and data visualization platforms: Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, Qlik. Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, preferably in a Microsoft environment, the Microsoft Office suite, and other common computer applications. Familiarity with the systems development life cycle. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Strong project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for excellent customer service, commitment to exceptional quality, and the ability to balance multiple complex projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree. Demonstrated understanding of UI/UX fundamentals. Familiarity with Figma or similar interface design tools. Knowledge of common practices in the fields of alumni relations and development, including a familiarity with advanced predictive analytics related to donor engagement, cultivation, and retention. Ability to conceptualize and develop proactive approaches to support organizational goals, including sophisticated constituent database queries. Knowledge of integrated marketing and CRM disciplines, including segmentation, targeting, direct marketing, and customer care. The budgeted salary range for this position is $90,000 $93,000.
