The client is a U.S.-based manufacturer of sophisticated industrial machinery and engineered equipment used in metal fabrication, welding, thermal cutting, and automated manufacturing applications. The organization designs, manufactures, installs, and supports equipment that combines electrical controls, mechanical systems, pneumatics, motion control, servo/VFD technology, gas-delivery systems, welding equipment, and thermal cutting technology. This is a highly technical customer-facing position supporting industrial equipment throughout the field.

The Field Service Technician will install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex industrial machinery at customer facilities while also providing technical support from the company office. Technicians will troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, gas, pneumatic, software, motion-control, servo, and VFD systems, interpret electrical/mechanical/pneumatic drawings, perform preventive maintenance and repairs, and identify ways to reduce equipment downtime and improve customer processes. The position also includes installing and testing thermal cutting and weld-positioning equipment and training customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance.

This is an excellent military transition opportunity for experienced electromechanical maintainers and technicians who are accustomed to troubleshooting complex equipment rather than simply replacing parts. Strong potential backgrounds include Navy Electrician’s Mates, Electronics Technicians, Gas Turbine Systems Technicians, Fire Controlmen and Machinery Repairmen; Army electronic/electromechanical systems maintainers; Air Force electrical, avionics, AGE and maintenance technicians; and Marine Corps electrical/electronics maintainers. Candidates with strong millwright, machinery maintenance, industrial controls, manufacturing maintenance, or comparable civilian experience can also align well.

This is a travel-intensive field service position requiring more than 50% travel, including customer visits that may arise on short notice. Candidates must be able to travel to Canada, possess a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable with occasional Saturday and Sunday work. When in the field, technicians may independently install equipment, diagnose failures, perform repairs, conduct preventive maintenance, and train customer personnel. When not traveling, technicians support customers by phone and email, document service activity, work within the company’s MRP system, develop Field Service Bulletins, and collaborate internally on technical issues and customer requirements. Continued technical learning is an important part of the position as equipment and customer applications evolve.

The position offers starting compensation of $60,000+ depending on experience and provides an opportunity to build expertise across multiple technologies rather than servicing one narrow piece of equipment. Candidates should generally have an associate degree in electromechanical technology combined with five or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, military training, and experience. The strongest candidates will bring substantial electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and the independence and communication skills necessary to represent the client directly at customer facilities.
