Our client is seeking a Field Service & Pyrometry Calibration Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on technical position involving precision measurement, electronic instrumentation, sensors, calibration, and industrial equipment.
You do not need to be an expert in pyrometry to be successful in this role. We are interested in technicians who have a strong technical foundation, understand how to troubleshoot complex equipment, follow technical procedures, and are motivated to learn a specialized field.
You will receive training and develop specialized knowledge in pyrometry, temperature measurement, calibration, and industrial furnace systems while working alongside experienced technicians.
What You’ll Do
Field Service & Technical Testing
You will travel to customer facilities to perform testing, calibration, and certification of industrial temperature-control and measurement systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing industrial furnaces and equipment for temperature surveys.
Installing and positioning thermocouples and temperature sensors.
Performing Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS) and System Accuracy Checks (SAT).
Performing calibration and verification of industrial instruments and temperature-measurement equipment.
Fabricating survey thermocouples using expendable wire.
Using electronic and precision test equipment to collect and verify measurement data.
Troubleshooting equipment and identifying potential problems.
Maintaining and inspecting company test equipment.
Completing accurate technical reports and customer documentation.
Reviewing test results before equipment is certified.
Following established safety, quality, and technical procedures.
Laboratory Calibration & Certification
When working in our laboratory, you will learn to calibrate and certify a variety of precision measurement equipment, including:
Digital thermometers
Potentiometers
Infrared (IR) thermometers
Temperature and humidity indicators
Data loggers
Surface probes
Chart timers
Thermocouple wire
Non-expendable thermocouple probes
You will be trained on the specific equipment, procedures, and standards used by our company.
Learn a Specialized Technical Field
Pyrometry is a specialized field involving temperature measurement, sensors, instrumentation, calibration, and quality control.
You will develop knowledge of industry standards and practices including:
AMS2750
BAC5621
ISO requirements
NADCAP requirements
Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS)
System Accuracy Checks (SAT)
Thermocouple technology
Industrial furnace controls
Calibration and measurement practices
Previous experience with these standards is helpful, but it is not required if you have the right technical foundation and willingness to learn.
What We’re Looking For
Technical Background
We are looking for someone with a technical foundation rather than a specific career history.
Qualifications may include:
Associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology (EET), electronics, instrumentation, or a related technical field; or
Equivalent formal technical training and hands-on experience; or
Relevant experience in electronics, instrumentation, industrial equipment, communications, electrical systems, power production, process controls, or similar technical fields.
Previous calibration, instrumentation, or pyrometry experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right technical candidate. Job 59355
