Job Summary The primary responsibility of the Fish and Amphibian Technician is to maintain the general health of fish for research in the Bronner Lab. Essential Job Duties Perform daily feedings for zebrafish, salamander, and lamprey populations; may be responsible for ordering and stocking fish food and supplies. Perform health surveys through daily monitoring and by sending samples out for histological surveillance for pathogens. Routine maintenance such as filter changes, system and tank cleaning, water quality monitoring, and troubleshooting any system failures. Rear fish larvae and bring shrimp for feeding adult fish. May clean and maintain all assigned work areas. May require lifting 20 – 50 pounds. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications A minimum of 2 years of experience in fish maintenance is required. Must be dedicated, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must enjoy working with fish. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications Some experience with fish husbandry preferred, but not essential, as training will be available.
