Description
In this role, you will be an integral member of the team to provide the best customer service by performing a variety of duties relevant to the retail food service operations of the Department of Nutrition. Responsibilities include:
- Set up service lines
- Pre-plate and serve food
- Aid in the preparation of meals
- Merchandise food items, maintain the beverage station
- Act as a food runner
- Measure temperatures of hot and cold items
- Wash dishes, pans, utensils, and small equipment
This is a per diem position; schedule and working hours will vary. May convert to Career. Effective 06/22/2025, employees represented by the
AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25.
Please note: This role requires flexibility to float across locations during the training period.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health locations.
- Skill in reading, speaking, and writing English.
- Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solutions.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach, lift, push, and pull for prolonged periods of time in hot and cold areas.
- Ability to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Knowledge of and adherence to prescribed safety, sanitation, and food handling practices according to HACCP and JC policies.
- Interpersonal skills to accomplish departmental mission of exceeding customer’s expectations.
- Knowledge of retail operations such as station setup, replenishment, merchandising and inventory procedures.
- Knowledge of portion control and serving procedures.
- Basic nutrition production skills.
