Full-time Faculty and Assistant Director of Clinical Training, PsyD Program The Psychology Department at Mount Saint Mary’s University (Los Angeles) invites applicants with a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in our APA Accredited PsyD in Clinical Psychology program, starting August 2027. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate outstanding commitment to teaching diverse students from traditionally underserved populations, experience teaching graduate students in a clinical training program, as well as familiarity with APA Accreditation. Our program was recently awarded APA Accreditation (on contingency) and will plan to apply for full Accreditation within two years. This is a ‘contractually limited term’ appointment, which is a non-tenure-track appointment with annual contracts that can be renewed each year. About the University: Mount Saint Mary’s University (www.msmu.edu) is a liberal arts university primarily for women. The Department: Mount Saint Mary’s psychology program currently offers a baccalaureate and a master’s degree, and launched the PsyD program fall 2019. The curriculum for the undergraduate psychology major has specializations in counseling/clinical, child/adolescent, research, and (general) applied psychology. The undergraduate program focuses on critical thinking, application, and preparation for continued education. The Master of Science degree in counseling psychology has two specializations. One fulfills the academic requirements for licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy in California; the second is in General Counseling Psychology. Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking MFT students also have the option to obtain a certificate specializing in working with Spanish speaking populations. The PsyD in Clinical Health Psychology is designed to prepare graduates to be practicing Psychologists in the public and private sectors by training the next generation of ethical and socially-just health service psychologists who strive for cultural humility while integrating the practice and science of psychological services. There are two emphases within the PsyD program: Latinx Mental Health and Diverse Populations. Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $$92,000 – $105,000 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Faculty Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching doctoral-level courses in clinical psychology, specifically courses that address both the applied and scientific foundations of psychology. Additional duties include ongoing program development, ongoing APA accreditation, and chairing dissertations. Other faculty responsibilities include advising and mentoring graduate students, scholarship/research, and participation in department and university service. Assistant Director of Clinical Training Responsibilities: Responsibilities include conducting and assisting site visits, assisting the DCT in managing the relationships between training sites and students. ADCT helps students prepare for interviews, provides advisement on clinical placements, advocates for students, and navigates student issues at clinical sites. The ADCT assists the DCT in implementing policies and with the integrity of the training program. The ADCT will also need to attend required practicum organization regularly scheduled meetings. Works collaboratively with the DCT to ensure quality clinical training is provided to the students. Job Requirements: Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree in counseling/clinical psychology from an APA Accredited doctoral program and be licensed as a Psychologist in the State of California (or be license eligible). Applicants will have experience teaching in a clinical training program as well as familiarity with the APA accreditation process.
