DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International’s Santa Ana, CA office is seeking a Licensed Landscape Architect!

The licensed Landscape Architect to work as a team member in our Landscape Architecture group, focusing on public works and highway design projects, including planting design, structural aesthetics, irrigation design, and construction documents. You will work directly with our team to prepare construction documents for a variety of public works and highway design projects. Also, you will coordinate with other design disciplines within Michael Baker, such as civil engineering, traffic engineering, structural engineering, and storm water management as well as with our clients and subconsultants. This role will require site visits, meetings, coordination, and CAD work to ensure project delivery. This position provides opportunities for career growth to become a leader in public works and highway design projects relating to landscape architecture design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the landscape design portion of public works and highway design work
  • Prepare construction plans in AutoCAD for public works projects or MicroStation for Caltrans projects
  • Compile and analyze data of site conditions regarding land use, site context, soil, vegetation, drainage, and location of structures for design preparation
  • Assist with landscape architectural studies, develop, design, and present high-quality landscape concept drawings and design concepts
  • Specification preparation and cost estimates
  • Prepare work on time and within budget, while meeting client expectations for quality and maintainability
  • Coordinate work with engineering and construction units at project site
  • Perform ongoing quality assurance throughout the course of a project

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
  • 8-12 years’ experience
  • Registration as a Landscape Architect in California
  • Desire to work on public works and highway landscape design projects
  • Proficiency in CAD (MicroStation preferred) and other software packages typically associated with highway landscape architectural design
  • Ability to work with other technical interdisciplinary teams and clearly communicate ideas and corrections
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $107,000-$150,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
