Major Giving Officer – KUSC Are you passionate about classical music and its power to strengthen communities? Listener-supported Classical KUSC has an ambitious growth plan for the future and is looking for a Major Giving Officer who can assist in our efforts to fund-raise in Southern California. Building a strong major giving program is key to our success. Located in downtown Los Angeles, KUSC is the largest and most listened to classical station in the country. KUSC is part of the Classical California, with sister station KDFC in San Francisco. KUSC and KDFC are licensed to the University of Southern California, one of the leading research universities in the nation with an admirable commitment to classical music, arts and the community. Job Overview: Reporting to the Chief Philanthropic Community Development Officer, the Major Giving Officer, KUSC, will assist in building and implementation of the stations strategic vision for major giving and oversees an implementation plan for management of a donor portfolio to increase revenue and strengthen donor engagement and stewardship. The Major Giving Officer will play a critical role in the creation of, donor-centered, materials that will enhance our major giving program and supports the mission and strategic initiatives of KUSC. To grow a stronger fundraising program, there is a need for systematic research, identification, qualifying, cultivating, closure and stewardship of donors. The Major Giving Officer will be responsible for ensuring a strong and growing pipeline of major donors and resulting revenue for KUSC initiatives. Job Responsibilities: In this role, the Major Giving Officer will have individual accountability for fundraising performance goals of frontline-facing activities which include but are not limited to: Manages a portfolio up to 75 prospects and secures significant individual gifts for the philanthropic initiatives of KUSC. Contributes to short and long-term strategic planning recommending goals and objectives. Proactively utilizes best practices for reporting to assist with prospect research, assignment, donor profiles, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors to build the donor pipeline while focusing on mission. Works with Development team to build the pipeline of major gift donors, securing meetings and implementing individual cultivation and solicitation strategies while analyzing a variety of reports to assist and inform decisions. Oversees design and creation of major giving communication vehicles, tools and strategies. Develops, prepares and presents formal fundraising proposals, reports and correspondence to donors and grant-making foundations. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. Qualifications: 5 or more years of consecutive experience in fundraising with a focus on individual solicitation. Experience working in non-profit, arts organizations. Demonstrated success in building long-term philanthropic relationships, soliciting and stewarding donors while meeting all fundraising goals. Demonstrated experience in gift solicitations of $100k and above Proven experience in the preparation necessary to build successful capital campaigns. Management and solicitation of gifts through a capital campaign. Ability to create compelling cases for funding support of content in the public service, non-profit arena. Ability to design and create communication vehicles, tools and strategies. Proven strong written and oral communications skills, exhibited through the development of successful donor, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship communications. Budget management/tracking experience. Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate individuals and teams. Ability to contribute to a strong internal culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and to be a positive team player. Proficiency in databases such as Salesforce, Word, Excel. Bachelors degree combined experience/education as substitute for minimum experience. Fundraising, public relations and/or volunteer management experience. Experience in management/leadership roles. Volunteer experience in fundraising, campaign or non-profit environments. Experience with email marketing, website development/coding and Adobe Creative Suite. Extensive customer service experience. Fluent in one or more language in addition to English (e.g., Spanish).
