Our office in sunny San Dimas, California, is in need of a Mid-level Instrumentation/Controls Engineer. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter with 5-10 years of relevant experience, specifically with compressor stations, pumping stations, storage tank forms, and pipelines.

Job Description

The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer will perform difficult and complex duties for midstream compressor stations, pumping stations, storage tank farms, pipelines, and gas and liquid metering facilities. This position reports to the Engineering Director and will assist other discipline engineering and design groups as needed to effectively coordinate design and quality practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Specification of instrumentation including transmitters, meters, switches, gauges, control valves, actuated on/off valves, etc.
  • Develop and maintain the instrument index, I/O list, cause and effect, and control narrative
  • Develop wake frequency calculations, control valve sizing, orifice plate sizing, etc
  • Support the development of network architecture, instrument location plans, wiring diagrams and installation details
  • Coordinate with the project team for the development of P&IDs, system control philosophies, and alarm setpoints
  • Design and specify programmable logic controller (PLC) cabinets, remote I/O cabinets (RIO’s), electronic flow measurement (EFM’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
  • Develop RFQ packages and provide technical evaluation for the procurement process
  • Factory inspection assignments and field walk downs

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related course of study
  • 5-10 years of relevant Instrumentation/Controls experience
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards NEC, NFPA, ISA, IEC, API, ASTM
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bluebeam Studio to collaborate and share information
  • Navisworks ability to review 3D models
