Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Assistant Medical Director, and in accordance with standardized procedures, the nurse practitioner will provide direct patient care in primary care and gynecologic services, including gynecologic procedures, at the Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (Ashe Center). The nurse practitioner will support the Student Health Service (SHS) and the University’s mission of keeping students in school by managing the comprehensive health needs of UCLA students to encompass direct medical care, case management, judicious use of all resources (e.g. ancillary services), appropriate/controlled use of outside referral resources, support for the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), and integration of prevention and healthy lifestyle counseling into the provision of care. Optimize the health of individuals and the campus as a whole through the highly competent provision of personal, medical care, including diagnosis and treatment in all settings at the SHS. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 5+ years Experience working as a nurse practitioner in an outpatient or urgent care setting (Required) 5+ years Experience with providing medication abortion services, obstetric ultrasound for early pregnancy dating, IUD insertion and removal, and contraceptive implant insertion and removal (Required) 1+ year Experience providing asynchronous care for primary care and gynecologic concerns (Preferred) Knowledge of disease, prevention, and health promotion needs of late adolescents and adults. (Required) Knowledge and experience in treating common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. (Required) Skill in interviewing needed to understand the medical and psycho-social needs of patients. (Required) .Skill in oral communication needed to accurately convey information to patients and other co-workers (Required) Skill in written communication needed to accurately convey information to patients and other co-workers. (Required) Skill in counseling needed to help patients deal with acute and chronic medical problems. (Required) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction (Required) Skill in organizing and prioritizing work when faced with competing deadlines, and interruptions. (Required) Skill in using a PC, and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to use the Ashe electronic medical record. (Required) Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. (Required) Ability to work and communicate professionally with a diverse clientele. (Required) Knowledge, experience and skill in performing primary care and gynecologic procedures or services i.e., laceration repair, incision and drainage, IUD/contraceptive implant insertion and removal, medication abortion (including no-test telemedicine abortion),& obstetric ultrasound for early pregnancy (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Completion of a master?s degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program (Required) Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner, as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Prior to Hire and Maintained During Employment (Required) Nurse Practitioner certification from an accredited program or equivalent.
