Postdoctoral Scholar – Douglas Black lab University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF11091 Postdoctoral Scholar – Douglas Black Lab A postdoctoral position is available in the Douglas Black Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The Black Lab studies mechanisms regulating pre-mRNA splicing in mammalian cells, with particular focus on the nervous system and the mis-regulation of splicing in disease. Our work applies a range of methods including RNA/protein biochemistry, genomics and bioinformatics, structural biology, and genome edited stem cell and mouse models. Applications are welcomed from motivated individuals interested any of these areas. Responsibilities 1) The successful applicant will lead their own project as well as contribute to the projects of other team members. The Black Lab and UCLA offer a diverse and supportive research community with opportunities to learn and teach across the wide range of scientific disciplines, and which presents many opportunities for collaboration. 2) The successful applicant will have opportunities to apply for fellowships and grants, to help in graduate student training, to supervise undergraduate students, and to lead the preparation of manuscripts.
