PSI and Mortality Specialist – Quality & Patient Safety – F/T Days Updated: Apr 3, 2024 Location: Orange Job Type: Department: Quality & Patient Safety UC Title: QLTY IMPV HC SPEC 4 Position Number: 41080180 Reports to: Clinical Excellence Manager Working Title: PSI and Mortality Specialist Cost Center: Quality & Patient Safety (428728) Bargaining Unit: No Bargaining Unit FLSA: Exempt Date Created: 4/01/2024 Job Code: 006525 Hours: 40 Shift: Not Applicable FTE: 1 Position Summary: Incumbent applies extensive clinical knowledge and data analysis skills to develop and manage the organization’s patient safety indicators and mortality programs. Incumbent is responsible for performing efficient, accurate and thorough chart review to abstract and validate necessary data. The incumbent establishes procedural norms and process metrics to monitor and evaluate clinical performance metrics, analyzes data, and identify opportunities for improvement in patient outcomes, clinical processes, and patient safety. Independently spearheads efforts to develop and enhance organizational processes related to the program and regularly works on highly complex issues requiring in-depth analysis of both current and ideal states. Effectively identifies and incorporates current evidence-based practice into improvement recommendations. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure that clinical excellence program objectives are met. Salary Range: Annual Rate Minimum $100,600.00 Midpoint $145,700.00 Maximum $190,800.00 Required Qualifications: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in operational transactions and communications Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies Must demonstrate meticulous attention to accuracy with data collection and reporting Ability to prioritize and contribute to simultaneous projects and facilitate teamwork among project staff / participants Previous experience or exposure to quality, patient safety, infection control, or performance improvement methodologies (includes educational experience if applicable) Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications with emphasis on Excel and Visio Minimum of 3 years of experience in the use of an electronic medical record Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare with an emphasis on relationship building with multiple health care disciplines Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Strong analytical skills to effectively comprehend complex system reports and analyze an array into an actionable form Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians, managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available Working knowledge of statistics Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare discipline Prior licensed clinical experience or expertise, such as RN, NP, foreign medical grad Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
