Principal Investigator, Peter Heeger, MD, is looking for a Research Associate I to join the team! Dr. Heeger leads a translational research group focused on understanding how to improve the outcomes of patients receiving transplanted organs. While kidney, heart, liver and lung transplantation is commonly performed and is lifesaving, the long term outcomes of transplant recipients remains suboptimal. The Research Associate I will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. The RA I team member will be able to perform routine cellular, molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. The incumbent will assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, and filing and monitoring of documents. This position keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery, and observes safety standards and procedures. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: May assist with animal husbandry. Maintains lab equipment and related records. Transports, processes, and logs samples. Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information. Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization. Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for equipment and supplies. Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Science related field, required. Experience: Research laboratory experience is preferred. Experience with tissue culture, animal handling, and molecular biology is highly preferred. Knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software. Must possess digital literacy in Excel and Word.
